Sea's Protector
Sea's Protector is a story about coming of age, learning confidence, and living with climate change and related issues.
Meredith is a 15 year old girl who grew up next to the ocean. One night she meets a dying mermaid that gives her a quest and awakens in her magic powers, including being able to grow a fish tail and breathe underwater. She and her best friend Cara are scared and unsure until they meet a young witch named Mana. Together the three of them investigate local magical occurences in the bay, become close friends, and uncover a world-ending secret hiding in the waters of San Fransisco.
I started this story when I was in about 7th grade. It's evolved a lot since then and I'm expecting it to do so even more as I work on it. I don't know if I'll ever try to publish it one day, but I don't want it to sit alone in my mind forever, so I'm laying it out here.
